About Charles R. Drew Middle School
Drew Middle School is one of seventeen schools in the Talladega County School System. The school serves approximately 400 students in grades 6-8. The students enroll from basically two feeder schools: Lincoln Elementary and Stemley Road Elementary School. Drew Middle School is a Title I school and an Alabama Reading Initiative Demonstration Site. The school offers programs for the gifted and talented, as well as students with special needs. A certified staff of twenty-three teachers, two instructional assistants, two custodians, one secretary/book keeper, one clerical assistant, and seventeen bus drivers serve students on a daily basis. Drew Middle School has been academically "clear" on the Stanford Achievement Test and Alabama Reading and Math Test criteria since the School Accountability Act was passed. The school has made adequate yearly progress (AYP) each school year.
Extracurricular activities are available for students, including athletics and various clubs and organizations. Students are encouraged to be involved in those organizations that interest them.
